Luthier Boaz Elkayam: Are Truss Rods Necessary?
Boaz Elkayam is talking about why he thinks truss rods are for poorly made guitars, and the power of tradition. Boaz Elkayam is a master luthier and guitarist. As a virtuoso Classical and Jazz trained guitarist, Boaz has first hand knowledge of the instrument and what the player expects from the instrument. The combination of playing and building has allowed Boaz to make first-rate guitars for some of the best guitarists worldwide. Boaz's favorite instrument is an original Harp-Lute/Oud/Indian Sarod/Classical and Steel-Stringed Guitar Hybrid. Since his original music does not fit into any specific genre, Boaz had to design his own magical instrument. Boaz describes his music as "Ethnic with Middle-Eastern and Jewish influences".
